FEIN – Design system for machine cartons
The solution for consistent, eye-catching packaging
For over 150 years, FEIN has been developing power tools for professional use that impress with their precision, robustness and high resilience.
While the product quality clearly conveys this claim, the existing packaging design offered potential: different carton formats and no clear visual bracket across the range.
The aim of the project was to develop a modular yet modern design with a strong brand presence.
The challenge was to combine standardisation and variability: The cartons had to be suitable for different machines, while product-specific information was to be integrated via a separate sticker.
At the same time, it was important to include all relevant mandatory information and create an eye-catching, POS-compatible design.
As a packaging partner, our task was to create a visual system that works independently of the specific product, but at the same time clearly conveys the brand and convinces at the point of sale. The dominant colour orange acts as a clear distinguishing feature and creates a strong long-distance effect.
It is complemented by a reduced, precise design with clear surfaces and a strong logo presentation. The product sticker is purposefully integrated into the layout, creating a consistent overall image despite variable content.
The result is a scalable packaging system with a high recognition value that can be efficiently transferred to different carton sizes and clearly sets FEIN apart from the competition.
The packaging is thus transformed from a functional carrier into a visible brand surface.
