PACOON presents sustainable packaging approaches at ProSweets Cologne 2020

As last year, PACOON exhibits at the international supplier fair for the confectionery and snack industry in cooperation with KölnMesse. This takes place at the same time as ISM, the world's leading trade fair for confectionery and snacks. Almost 40,000 trade visitors from all over the world visit the fair every year.

As a partner of Messe Köln, we have again prepared exciting approaches and information on sustainable packaging concepts in the special show 'Function meets Design'. With concepts covering all aspects of snacks and sweets, we want to stimulate thoughts, present new ideas and encourage companies to participate in the design process.

Less waste, less packaging, more circular economy - these are the issues currently occupying the trade, consumers, manufacturers and the supply chain. But how can these cycles be better closed and the volume of packaging reduced?

We have collected samples and examples of alternative material approaches and new concepts. Since we are constantly being asked what options exist for the selection of materials and concepts, and in order to show customers the many different approaches, we have created a decision tree to help them make their choice.

In addition to the current focus of many companies on recyclable packaging, we have also thought about long-term solutions that could lead to less packaging or waste in nature: e.g. reusable packaging. As a striking example from the ISM industry environment, we have thought this through using the example of crisps packaging. We have compared this reusable concept with disposable packaging in order to show that a superficial assessment of the pure material quantities and costs would not be sufficient. Only an holistic view reveals the true cost-saving potential.

We now want to tackle these concepts together with partners and funding and show that a vision can also become reality.

We are still looking for partners who are interested in developing innovative concepts with us.

About PACOON

For years we have been informing, training, advising and motivating companies to develop more sustainable packaging solutions. 2019 was a big step - caused by the Packaging Act and pressure from legislation, trade demands and consumers - so we have implemented several training courses, workshops and projects. Already at the beginning of 2020, it is becoming apparent that there is currently a growing demand for alternative packaging concepts or material solutions, so that the demand for integrated concept solutions is also increasing significantly.

To support you, we therefore offer in-house training, workshops, sustainability consulting, material research or the development of packaging concepts.

Please contact us at sustainability@pacoon.de

We are present at many trade fairs (Biofach/Vivaness, Interzoo, Drupa, Fachpack, etc.) and give many lectures each year.

In 2020 we will again be hosting our established SOLPACK 4.0 - International Conference for more sustainable packaging on 23 and 24 June in Munich. In 2019, more than 100 participants from the entire supply chain have informed themselves, networked and exchanged ideas, learned about new solutions and were inspired by best cases.

Save the date and benefit from the latest information and our leading expertise. This year's main topics are:

  • Recycling Technologies

  • alternative materials and packaging concepts

  • Reusable concepts.
