As last year, PACOON will be exhibiting in cooperation with the trade fair Cologne at the international supplier fair for the confectionery and snack industry. This takes place at the same time as ISM, the world's leading trade fair for confectionery and snacks. Nearly 40,000 trade visitors from all over the world attend the fair every year.
As a partner of the Trade Fair Cologne, we have again prepared exciting approaches and information on sustainable packaging concepts as part of the special show 'Function meets Design'. With concepts around snacks and confectionery, we want to trigger thoughts, present new ideas, and encourage companies to get involved.
Less waste, less packaging, more recycling – these are topics that are currently occupying retailers, consumers, manufacturers and the supplier industry. We have thought about how cycles can be optimally closed and the volume of packaging reduced. In addition to a focus on recyclable packaging with alternative material approaches, we have given thought to reusable packaging solutions in comparison to single-use packaging. We now want to tackle these concepts together with partners and funding and show that visions can also become reality. For this purpose, we are still looking for partners who are interested in developing innovative concepts with us.
For years, and especially since 2018, we have been informing, training, advising and motivating companies to develop more sustainable packaging solutions. 2019 was a big step – caused by the Packaging Law and the pressure from legislation, trading demands and consumers – so we realized several trainings, workshops and projects. Already at the beginning of 2020, it is becoming apparent that there is now an increasing demand for alternative packaging concepts or material solutions and the inquiries are increasing significantly.

We are present at many trade fairs (Biofach/Vivaness, Interzoo, Drupa, Fachpack), give many presentations throughout the year and will again host our established SOLPACK – International Conference for More Sustainable Packaging in Munich in 2023. More than 100 participants from the entire supply chain will inform, network and exchange ideas, present new solutions or get inspired by best cases.
