"Smart Solutions – Higher Flexibility" is the guiding theme of this year's Anuga FoodTec 2022, the international supplier fair for the food and beverage industry in Cologne. From April 26-29, exhibitors will showcase innovative approaches to process optimization and smart solutions for the entire food industry. An indispensable focus today in this context is the issue of sustainability and the requirement for all players to enable flexibility, efficiency and, at the same time, more environmentally and climate-friendly production.
Exceptional strategies and concepts that put the product in the center and sustainability in the foreground. To this end, pacoon Sustainability Concepts GmbH (PSC), as a professional contact partner, has entered into a cooperation agreement with Anuga FoodTec from 2022 and will present forward-looking aspects from the world of sustainable packaging as part of the newly created special show Packaging.
The optimal prerequisite for a packaging portfolio that fulfills all three pillars of sustainability is openness and motivation from the management and the involvement of all stakeholders for this. As an aid and guide, PSC has defined a 10-step method that is necessary from the elaboration of goals to proper communication. Depending on where a company is, these ten steps can serve as a guide where the company can assist with its 14 years of expertise. These steps represent sustainable change and will be presented to visitors at Anuga FoodTec 2022 in Hall 8, Stand E030.
PACOON will also be showcasing other trend topics relating to packaging materials and concepts. With the increasingly significant topic of REUSE, the company will provide information on reusable containers already in use and established on the market, as well as on the development of the standardized reuse system CYRCOL©. In order to achieve international use and a major impact on the packaging market, it is important to define a standard on packaging, tracking, coding, billing and cleaning and to establish an international infrastructure. PACOON will present the function and challenges of such a standardized system and show interested visitors the cycle by means of a virtual reality experience in a virtual supermarket with VR glasses.
Other trends presented include fiber-based packaging such as from agricultural or production residues, new coatings for high barrier requirements and free of plastics, new approaches to 3D forming with fibers and their possibilities for food packaging and service packaging under the EU's new "Single Use Plastic Directive".
